Introduction

India is the second most populous country in the world, with a staggering 1.3 billion people. Humans have been here since around 30,000 BC. Wow. It was, of course, part of the British Empire with the East India Company effectively ruling from the mid-C18 until its independence in 1947

Food was the main reason for coming here. I wanted to find out first-hand if the fare served in the average Indian restaurant (usually owned by Bangladeshis, of course!) bared much resemblance to the original. It seemed as good a reason as any 😉

Accounts from friends who’d visited means I’m expecting a noisy, bustling, lively, dirty country with friendly locals and a fair dose of scammers. The Golden Triangle of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur seemed a good place to start, with detours to wildlife in between.

I don’t know much about India, so I’m hoping to learn much about its history and culture, and a visit to the Taj Mahal is high on the list.
